Understanding the Impact of Stress on Bodily Health


Something that people don’t understand on a regular basis, is that stress can actually make you sick. One of the ways that stress can make you sick is through wearing down your immune system and making it difficult to recover from Any type of injury as well.

In this post we’re going to talk about the different ways that stress impacts your body and how you can work to decrease those effects.

Inflammation in the body is caused by many different agonists. An agonist is something that irritates the body and causes a reaction that is either positive or negative and in this case, it’s quite negative.

When your body is under a lot of stress, and this can be even positive stressors, this leads to an inability to rid the body of inflammation factors. inflammation, or inflammatory factors, are agonists that cause inflammation in the body.

If you haven’t heard of information before or identified what it is in your body, let’s look at it this way. hold your hands out and make a fist. Does your skin feel tight? more than likely that tightness is inflammation in the body due to stress, salt intake, or eating something that doesn’t agree with your body. While stress is harder to work with, changing your diet is one way to help decrease this inflammation.

Another way that inflammation affects the body is by making  your stomach upset, making it hard for other organs to function, and leading to hormone imbalances. All of this is caused, or can be caused by an excess amount of stress preventing your body from handling inflammation.

Exhausted Immune System

Much like how inflammation can result from your body not processing agonists correctly,  the immune system is constantly bombarded by stress factors which wear down your body’s ability to fight off infection. 

When you are constantly stressed, it might seem like your body eventually builds up a stronger immune system. While this is partially true, the actual issue comes down to your immune system  being so overwhelmed it can’t do anything other than shut down.

 So what happens when your immune system shuts down?

When your immune system is so worn out because of the stress that has been going on, this makes you more susceptible to infections, and it means that you are also going to be more susceptible to inflammation as well!

How Do I Help My Body?

So how do you decrease inflammation in the body when all of this stress is surrounding you? it’s not like the stress can disappear automatically is it?

It may sound like everything is following this new fad of constant self-care, however, people kind of have this idea right. Self care is a great way to decrease stress in the body because you are taking care of yourself. When you take care of yourself, you aren’t focusing on what is going on around you, but rather focusing inward.

When focusing inward, you are taking your attention off of stress factors and putting that energy towards  something different. Does this always mean that you’re going to be taking care of your physical body? No. Self care is more than just using a face mask, or taking a bath.

Self care is about redirecting your attention to something that has a more positive effect on you as a person. This can be exercise, crafting, taking care of your skin, and any combination of the above.

A Note on Exercising 

One thing that is often not taught is that exercising can be just as good as it can be bad. I know we are taught regularly that exercise is a great way to get all of the stress out of your body. However, this can also lead to an increase in cortisol if you aren’t working out in a way that helps your hormone balance in your body.

Cortisol is what we call the stress hormone. Whenever you’re stressed, cortisol is elevated in the blood system, and is readily stored in the fat cells of your body. No matter how hard you try, it is almost impossible to get rid of cortisol in your body without some sort of medical assistance.


One of the best ways to help yourself is to take time and relax. There are multiple ways to relax and multiple ways that you can assist yourself in that relaxation. From marijuana products to watching a movie, even if you need help decreasing the high with some HIBEGONE,  that relaxation is going to help you so much in the long run!
